Three different subliminal screens were presented: HELP screen, screen of garbage text, and a blank screen. Two subliminal screen presentation schedules were employed: fixed interval and fixed ratio. Significant differences were found among the three screen contents regarding the number of commands issued between each request for help and the amount of time between each request for help. Post hoc examination showed that the group receiving subliminal HELP screens issued more commands between help requests and took more time between requests for help than the group receiving garbage subliminal presentations. While no differences were found among groups with regard to the percentage of commands that were help requests, a trend consistent with the above findings was noted.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/49108.1046380","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2007,1,17]],"date-time":"2007-01-17T18:32:02Z","timestamp":1169058722000},"page":"81","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["SUBLIMINAL PRESENTATION OF HELP SCREENS ON A MICROCOMPUTER"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"19","author":[{"given":"F.
