The discussion was moderated by Prof. Wolfgang Banzhaf who holds the John R. Koza chair in genetic programming at Michigan State University in the USA. He started by inviting each member of the panel to give their position.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1145\/3264700.3264701","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2018,8,6]],"date-time":"2018-08-06T12:19:50Z","timestamp":1533557990000},"page":"3-6","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/crossmark-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["EuroGP 2018 panel debate"],"prefix":"10.1145","volume":"11","author":[{"given":"Penousal","family":"Machado","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Coimbra, Portugal"}]},{"given":"Una-May","family":"O'Reilly","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"MIT, USA"}]},{"given":"Marco","family":"Gori","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Siena, Italy"}]},{"given":"Sebastian","family":"Risi","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"IT University of Copenhagen, Denmark"}]}],"member":"320","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2018,8,3]]},"container-title":["ACM SIGEVOlution"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/10.1145\/3264700.3264701","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/pdf\/10.1145\/3264700.3264701","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2025,6,18]],"date-time":"2025-06-18T02:10:54Z","timestamp":1750212654000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/dl.acm.org\/doi\/10.1145\/3264700.3264701"}},"subtitle":["genetic programming in the era of deep neural networks"],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2018,8,3]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"2","published-print":{"date-parts":[[2018,8,3]]}},"alternative-id":["10.1145\/3264700.3264701"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1145\/3264700.3264701","relation":{},"ISSN":["1931-8499"],"issn-type":[{"type":"electronic","value":"1931-8499"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2018,8,3]]},"assertion":[{"value":"2018-08-03","order":2,"name":"published","label":"Published","group":{"name":"publication_history","label":"Publication History"}}]}}
