The\ncomputation is performed within the envelope function approximation for a superlattice,\nin which all spatially varying terms of the <jats:bold>k.p<\/jats:bold> Hamiltonian, including the\nexchange and correlation energies are expanded in plane waves. The <jats:bold>k.p<\/jats:bold> eigenvalue\nequation, and Poisson\u2032s equation are solved iteratively until self\u2010consistency is attained.\nResults from the <jats:bold>k.p<\/jats:bold> calculation are exported to MINILASE\u2010II via a density of states\nand an energy dependent optical matrix element factor, renormalized by a Coulomb\nenhancement factor to account for electron\u2010hole attraction.
