A\nmultigrid method is used on the Poisson and current continuity equations while the\nelectron density is calculated at each level by solving the Schr\u00f6dinger equation in onedimensional\nslices perpendicular to the layer structure. A correction factor is introduced\nwhich enables relatively accurate solutions to be obtained using a low number of\neigensolutions. A novel method for discretising the current density which can be\ngeneralised to the non\u2010isothermal case is described.
