Although the departure processes from some such systems are known to be\n     Poisson, they actually consist of the superposition of two complex correlated processes, the\n      overflow process and the output process.  We measure the \n      cross-correlation between the counting processes for these two processes. It turns out \n      that this can be positive, negative, or even zero (without implying independence). The\n       models suggest some general principles on how big these correlations are, and when\n        they are important. This may suggest when renewal or moment approximations to similar\n         processes will be successful, and when they will not.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1155\/2007\/51801","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2007,9,27]],"date-time":"2007-09-27T12:59:13Z","timestamp":1190897953000},"page":"1-13","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Correlations in Output and Overflow Traffic Processes in Simple Queues"],"prefix":"10.1080","volume":"2007","author":[{"given":"Don","family":"McNickle","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]}],"member":"301","reference":[{"key":"1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.2307\/3212016"},{"key":"2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.2307\/3212513"},{"year":"1981","key":"3"},{"issue":"1","key":"4","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"125","DOI":"10.1287\/opre.30.1.125","volume":"30","year":"1982","journal-title":"Operations Research"},{"issue":"5","key":"5","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"1133","DOI":"10.1287\/opre.32.5.1133","volume":"32","year":"1984","journal-title":"Operations Research"},{"key":"6","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1002\/nav.3800330112"},{"key":"7","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1080\/15326349808807480"},{"key":"8","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1023\/A:1026093622185"},{"key":"9","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/S0166-5316(02)00091-3"},{"key":"10","series-title":"Johns Hopkins Series in the Mathematical Sciences","first-page":"xx+251","volume":"4","year":"1987"},{"key":"11","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"123","DOI":"10.2307\/1426216","volume":"1","year":"1969","journal-title":"Advances in Applied Probability"}],"container-title":["Journal of Applied Mathematics and Decision Sciences"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"http:\/\/downloads.hindawi.com\/archive\/2007\/051801.pdf","content-type":"application\/pdf","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"http:\/\/downloads.hindawi.com\/archive\/2007\/051801.pdf","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2024,8,8]],"date-time":"2024-08-08T14:23:39Z","timestamp":1723127019000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/www.hindawi.com\/journals\/ads\/2007\/051801\/abs\/"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2007,9,24]]},"references-count":11,"alternative-id":["051801","51801"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1155\/2007\/51801","relation":{},"ISSN":["1173-9126","1532-7612"],"issn-type":[{"type":"print","value":"1173-9126"},{"type":"electronic","value":"1532-7612"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2007,9,24]]}}}
