(1) The source\u2010destination and relay\u2010destination\nchannels are orthogonal (frequency division relay channel). (2) The\nrelay implements the decode\u2010and\u2010forward protocol. (3) The source\nand relay implement the same channel encoder, namely, a convolutional\nencoder. (4) They can use arbitrary and possibly different\nmodulations.
