For budding yeast <jats:italic>Saccharomyces\ncerevisiae<\/jats:italic> with around 6000 proteins, genome\u2010wide\nprotein\u2010protein\u2010interaction (PPI) (Fromont\u2010Racine et al. 2000, Ito\net al. 2001, Newman et al. 2000, and Uetz et al. 2000 among\nothers) and protein subcellular localization (PSL) (Huh et al.\n2003) data recently became available and for the latter the\npresence of 4152 proteins is experimentally tested in each of the\n22 subcellular compartments. Recent work shows that multiple\nbiological sources are helpful for both PSL and PPI predictions,\nand this paper studies statistical feasibility of modeling PPI\nfrom PSL since PSLs may play different marginal or joint roles in\nthe complex regulatory network.
