The hydroxyl group\u2010modified MWNT was modified to include poly(GVPB)\u2010g\u2010MWNT, or  poly(HEMA), by a radiation\u2010induced graft polymerization of glucosyl 4\u2010vinylphenylboronate (GVPB) or 2\u2010hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA) on the surface of MWNT.  The response of biosensor was in the range of 0.6\u20137.0\u2009mM for concentration and in the range of 0.05\u20130.35\u2009mM for phenol in a phosphate buffer solution, respectively. Various parameters influencing biosensor performance have been optimized: for pH, temperature, and the response to various phenolic compounds.
