It combines a new type of parallel data-flow processor with an architecture tuned for fast calculation. The replica placement problem is to find a replica-server set satisfying service constraints in a content delivery network (CDN). It is derived from the set cover problem which is known to be NP-hard. It is impractical to use exhaustive search to obtain optimal replica placement in large-scale networks, because calculation time increases with the number of combinations. To reduce calculation time, heuristic algorithms have been proposed, but it is known that no heuristic algorithm is assured of finding the optimal solution. The proposed algorithm suits parallel processing and pipeline execution and is implemented on DAPDNA-2, a dynamically reconfigurable processor. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm expands the exhaustive search limit by the factor of 18.8 compared to the conventional algorithm search limit running on a Neumann-type processor.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1155\/2011\/707592","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2011,12,14]],"date-time":"2011-12-14T16:24:53Z","timestamp":1323879893000},"page":"1-11","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Fast Optimal Replica Placement with Exhaustive Search Using Dynamically Reconfigurable Processor"],"prefix":"10.1155","volume":"2011","author":[{"given":"Hidetoshi","family":"Takeshita","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Information and Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, Yokohama, 223-8522, Japan"}]},{"given":"Sho","family":"Shimizu","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Information and Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, Yokohama, 223-8522, Japan"}]},{"given":"Hiroyuki","family":"Ishikawa","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Information and Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, Yokohama, 223-8522, Japan"}]},{"given":"Akifumi","family":"Watanabe","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"IPFlex Inc., Tokyo 141-0021, Japan"}]},{"given":"Yutaka","family":"Arakawa","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Information and Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, Yokohama, 223-8522, Japan"}]},{"given":"Naoaki","family":"Yamanaka","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Information and Computer Science, Faculty of Science and Technology, Keio University, Yokohama, 223-8522, Japan"}]},{"given":"Kosuke","family":"Shiba","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"IPFlex Inc., Tokyo 141-0021, Japan"}]}],"member":"311","reference":[{"key":"7","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"1363","DOI":"10.1287\/opre.19.6.1363","volume":"19","year":"1971","journal-title":"Operations Research"},{"year":"1979","key":"8"},{"key":"10","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/S0140-3664(01)00409-1"},{"key":"11","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/TPDS.2005.126"},{"key":"13","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1109\/TPDS.2011.27"},{"key":"15","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/S0022-0000(74)80044-9"},{"issue":"8","key":"19","first-page":"1997","volume":"e87-d","year":"2004","journal-title":"IE-ICE Transactions on Information and Systems"},{"year":"1978","key":"17","first-page":"176"},{"key":"18","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1007\/BF01386390"}],"container-title":["Journal of Computer Networks and Communications"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"http:\/\/downloads.hindawi.com\/journals\/jcnc\/2011\/707592.pdf","content-type":"application\/pdf","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"http:\/\/downloads.hindawi.com\/journals\/jcnc\/2011\/707592.xml","content-type":"application\/xml","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"http:\/\/downloads.hindawi.com\/journals\/jcnc\/2011\/707592.pdf","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2017,6,20]],"date-time":"2017-06-20T07:21:31Z","timestamp":1497943291000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"http:\/\/www.hindawi.com\/journals\/jcnc\/2011\/707592\/"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2011]]},"references-count":9,"alternative-id":["707592","707592"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1155\/2011\/707592","relation":{},"ISSN":["2090-7141","2090-715X"],"issn-type":[{"type":"print","value":"2090-7141"},{"type":"electronic","value":"2090-715X"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2011]]}}}
