Based on a variant of the local discontinuous Galerkin method, we obtain the optimal convergence for the exact solution<jats:italic>u<\/jats:italic>in the energy norm and its flux<jats:bold>p<\/jats:bold>in the<jats:italic>L<\/jats:italic><jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup>norm. These results are the same as those in the case of elliptic problems without interface.
