In such situations and under panic conditions, several incidents and disasters may arise, resulting in loss of human lives. Hence, the study and modeling of the pedestrians behavior are imperative in both normal and panic situations. In a previous work, we developed a microscopic model for pedestrian movement based on the algorithm of Ant Colonies and the principles of cellular automata. We took advantage of a fuzzy model to better reflect the uncertainty and vagueness of the perception of space to pedestrians, especially to represent the desirability or blurred visibility of virtual pedestrians. This paper uses the mechanism of artificial potential fields. Said fields provide virtual pedestrians with better visibility of their surroundings and its various components (goals and obstacles). The predictions provided by the first-order traffic flow theory are confirmed by the results of the simulation. The advantage of this model lies in the combination of benefits provided by the model of ants and artificial potential fields in a fuzzy modeling, to better understand the perceptions of pedestrians.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1155\/2016\/4027687","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2016,8,21]],"date-time":"2016-08-21T17:01:54Z","timestamp":1471798914000},"page":"1-11","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":0,"title":["Fuzzy Pheromone Potential Fields for Virtual Pedestrian Simulation"],"prefix":"10.1155","volume":"2016","author":[{"given":"Meriem","family":"Mandar","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"National School of Applied Sciences, Bd Bni Amir, BP 77, Khouribga, Morocco"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-1301-5696","authenticated-orcid":true,"given":"Azedine","family":"Boulmakoul","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Computer Sciences, LIM\/IDS Lab, Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of Mohammedia, University of Hassan II Casablanca, 28820 Mohammedia, Morocco"}]}],"member":"311","reference":[{"issue":"2","key":"1","first-page":"67","volume":"5","year":"2011","journal-title":"Revue \u00c9lectronique Francophone d'Informatique Graphique"},{"key":"2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1155\/2012\/343724"},{"key":"3","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.2174\/1874243201105010019"},{"issue":"10","key":"5","first-page":"32","volume":"5","year":"2014","journal-title":"International Journal of Civil Engineering and Technology"},{"key":"6","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1137\/090746677"},{"key":"7","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.physrep.2012.03.004"},{"key":"11","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.3141\/2234-13"},{"key":"10","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.proeng.2016.01.311"},{"key":"12","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1007\/978-3-319-02447-9_36"},{"journal-title":"Game developers conference","first-page":"763","year":"1999","key":"14"},{"key":"15","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.physa.2008.12.008"},{"key":"16","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1155\/2013\/284721"},{"key":"17","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1098\/rspb.2009.0405"},{"key":"18","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.tra.2013.01.018"},{"issue":"3","key":"19","doi-asserted-by":"crossref","first-page":"2","DOI":"10.18564\/jasss.1789","volume":"14","year":"2011","journal-title":"Journal of Artificial Societies and Social Simulation"},{"key":"22","first-page":"338","volume":"8","year":"1965","journal-title":"Information and Computation"},{"key":"23","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.fss.2005.11.006"},{"key":"24","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.2174\/1874243201105010019"},{"first-page":"396","volume-title":"Real-time obstacle avoidance for manipulators and mobile robots","year":"1990","key":"25"},{"year":"2004","key":"26"},{"key":"27","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.5772\/6022"}],"container-title":["Advances in Fuzzy Systems"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"http:\/\/downloads.hindawi.com\/journals\/afs\/2016\/4027687.pdf","content-type":"application\/pdf","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"http:\/\/downloads.hindawi.com\/journals\/afs\/2016\/4027687.xml","content-type":"application\/xml","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"http:\/\/downloads.hindawi.com\/journals\/afs\/2016\/4027687.pdf","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2017,6,24]],"date-time":"2017-06-24T17:05:13Z","timestamp":1498323913000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"http:\/\/www.hindawi.com\/journals\/afs\/2016\/4027687\/"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[2016]]},"references-count":21,"alternative-id":["4027687","4027687"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1155\/2016\/4027687","relation":{},"ISSN":["1687-7101","1687-711X"],"issn-type":[{"type":"print","value":"1687-7101"},{"type":"electronic","value":"1687-711X"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[2016]]}}}
