We define a DOT, a LINE, and a SURFACE as tactile symbols of hitting a small bump, flicking a string, and rubbing a textured surface, respectively. The combination of the proposed primitives induces a more efficient design process for providing various tactile properties of virtual objects to a user. We did experiments to evaluate whether the proposed method haptically represents virtual objects.
