The fluorometric assay is based on the use of functionalized silica particles (SiO<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>-SH) in combination with <jats:italic>o<\/jats:italic>-phthaldialdehyde (OPA). The fluorescence excitation and emission wavelengths were located at 340\u2009nm and 430\u2009nm. The relative fluorescence intensity was linear in the concentration range between 1.0\u2009\u00d7\u200910<jats:sup>\u22127<\/jats:sup>\u2009mol\/L and 1.0\u2009\u00d7\u200910<jats:sup>\u22125<\/jats:sup>\u2009mol\/L (M) with the detection limit of 3.4\u2009\u00d7\u200910<jats:sup>\u22127<\/jats:sup>\u2009M. The fluorescent silica particle-based sensor was successfully employed for the determination of GSH in dietary supplements with excellent recoveries.
