A method of FIR to FIR model reduction using SDP optimization is proposed in this paper. At first, we use SDP to design an original FIR filter. Then we name a general <jats:italic>K<\/jats:italic>-order FIR digital filter <mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1998\/Math\/MathML\" id=\"M1\"><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mi>H<\/mml:mi><\/mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mn>1<\/mml:mn><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:msub><mml:mfenced open=\"(\" close=\")\" separators=\"|\"><mml:mrow><mml:msup><mml:mrow><mml:mi>z<\/mml:mi><\/mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>\u2212<\/mml:mo><mml:mn>1<\/mml:mn><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:msup><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:mfenced><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:math> with coefficient values equal to the first <jats:italic>K<\/jats:italic>\u2009+\u20091 filter coefficient values of <mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1998\/Math\/MathML\" id=\"M2\"><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mi>H<\/mml:mi><\/mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mn>0<\/mml:mn><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:msub><mml:mfenced open=\"(\" close=\")\" separators=\"|\"><mml:mrow><mml:msup><mml:mrow><mml:mi>z<\/mml:mi><\/mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>\u2212<\/mml:mo><mml:mn>1<\/mml:mn><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:msup><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:mfenced><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:math>. Finally, we design a new general <jats:italic>K<\/jats:italic>-order FIR digital filter <mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1998\/Math\/MathML\" id=\"M3\"><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mi>H<\/mml:mi><\/mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mn>2<\/mml:mn><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:msub><mml:mfenced open=\"(\" close=\")\" separators=\"|\"><mml:mrow><mml:msup><mml:mrow><mml:mi>z<\/mml:mi><\/mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>\u2212<\/mml:mo><mml:mn>1<\/mml:mn><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:msup><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:mfenced><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:math> connected in parallel with <mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/1998\/Math\/MathML\" id=\"M4\"><mml:mrow><mml:msub><mml:mrow><mml:mi>H<\/mml:mi><\/mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mn>1<\/mml:mn><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:msub><mml:mfenced open=\"(\" close=\")\" separators=\"|\"><mml:mrow><mml:msup><mml:mrow><mml:mi>z<\/mml:mi><\/mml:mrow><mml:mrow><mml:mo>\u2212<\/mml:mo><mml:mn>1<\/mml:mn><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:msup><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:mfenced><\/mml:mrow><\/mml:math> using SDP optimization. The experiment results show this method has good performance on the magnitude error and the linear phase in passband.
