One potential approach to resolving these issues is to incorporate an energy storage system (ESS) within the RDN. Hence, the allocation and operation of ESS were optimized in this study. The primary objective was to optimize system costs while enhancing the performance of the RDN, improving voltage regulation, reducing peak demand, and minimizing power losses. To accomplish this, a chaotic generalized normal distribution optimization (CGNDO) was proposed by integrating chaotic local search to boost its local search capability. The suggested CGNDO was implemented in the IEEE 33\u2010bus and 69\u2010bus RDNs with different case studies. The findings indicate that properly integrating an ESS can greatly enhance the performance of RDNs.
