Using a microbe adhesion\nassay to hydrocarbons (n\u2010hexadecane), 68 strains of <jats:italic>Candida albicans<\/jats:italic> and 30 non\u2010<jats:italic>albicans<\/jats:italic> strains\nwere studied. Influence of source of isolate, age of the culture, and percentage of germ tube formation\non adhesion were studied. <jats:italic>C: albicans<\/jats:italic> blastoconidia were found to be hydrophilic; conversely,\nblastoconidia of non\u2010<jats:italic>albicans<\/jats:italic> strains were slightly more hydrophobic.
