The substrate temperature was stabilised in the range of 450\u2013600 \u2218C. The growth rate varied from several nanometres to several dozen of nanometres per minute. Structural information on\nTiO<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub> thin films was obtained from synchrotron radiation experiments. High\u2010resolution grazing incidence\nX\u2010ray diffraction (GIXRD) experiments were performed at the high\u2010resolution powder diffractometer at the\nDESY\/HASYLAB beamline B2 (Hamburg, Germany). Thin films deposited on either single\u2010crystal Si wafers\nor on amorphous quartz substrates were analysed. The photocatalytic activity of the TiO<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub> thin films was\nstudied using a photocatalytic reactor.
