Karger AG","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2008,5,30]],"date-time":"2008-05-30T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1212105600000},"content-version":"vor","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"https:\/\/karger.com\/pages\/terms-and-conditions"},{"start":{"date-parts":[[2008,5,30]],"date-time":"2008-05-30T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1212105600000},"content-version":"tdm","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"https:\/\/karger.com\/pages\/terms-and-conditions"}],"content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Pharmacology"],"abstract":"<jats:p>Evidence for and against heterogeneity in the histamine H&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;\/sub&gt;-receptor population is reported: it was based on different degrees of potency and also of efficacy among the H&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;\/sub&gt;-receptor-selective agonists; less striking but still evident differences in the potency of H&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;\/sub&gt;-antagonists; atypical interactions between H&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;\/sub&gt;-agonists and antagonists in particular experimental conditions and finally inability of H&lt;sub&gt;1&lt;\/sub&gt;- and H&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;\/sub&gt;-receptor antagonists to block some of the effects of histamine. Binding studies gave equivocal results.
