Karger AG","issue":"4","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2009,1,1]],"date-time":"2009-01-01T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1230768000000},"content-version":"vor","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"https:\/\/www.karger.com\/Services\/SiteLicenses"},{"start":{"date-parts":[[2009,1,1]],"date-time":"2009-01-01T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1230768000000},"content-version":"tdm","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"https:\/\/www.karger.com\/Services\/SiteLicenses"}],"content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Dig Surg"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2009]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>&lt;i&gt;Introduction:&lt;\/i&gt; The aim of this technique is to achieve a quick, efficient and easy-to-perform as well as to reverse surgical procedure for patients requiring temporary deviation of stool transit, which can be carried out even by surgeons with little experience. &lt;i&gt;Methods:&lt;\/i&gt; We describe our technique for loop colostomy over a subcutaneous plastic rod device placed not on the skin but on the superficial abdominal aponeurosis. &lt;i&gt;Results:&lt;\/i&gt; Nineteen loop colostomies were performed using this technique, with no complications of either stoma formation or its subsequent function. The patient population consisted of 10 men and 9 women (average age 64 years). Patients were all followed up for 24 months or until death. Six deaths occurred in patients operated for palliative purposes. &lt;i&gt;Conclusions:&lt;\/i&gt; This technique is not only very useful for patients in poor health who have undergone surgery due to intestinal blockage and need a quick surgical procedure to deal with an acute bowel disorder, but also in palliative situations.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1159\/000227788","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2009,7,7]],"date-time":"2009-07-07T14:59:48Z","timestamp":1246978788000},"page":"282-284","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":7,"title":["Loop Colostomy with a Suprafascial Bridge Device"],"prefix":"10.1159","volume":"26","author":[{"given":"Ana Maria","family":"Branco","sequence":"first","affiliation":[]},{"given":"A.
