Methods: A retrospective review was performed on all adult patients with thyroid nodules cytologically classified as indeterminate (2023 The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology) who underwent surgery at a single tertiary care center over a 10-year period. Statistical analysis was performed to evaluate the association between preoperative TSH serum levels and histopathological results. Results: A total of 252 patients were identified, of which 79 had nodules classified as atypia of undetermined significance and 173 as follicular neoplasms. In both groups, the mean TSH level in malignant nodules was lower than in benign nodules, although not significantly, with the former group having a mean TSH level of 1.46 mU\/L versus 2.02 mU\/L, p = 0.083, and the latter 1.54 mU\/L versus 1.56 mU\/L, p = 0.9.
