Ceru"],"abstract":"<jats:p>The \u00a0sociocultural \u00a0adaptation \u00a0of \u00a0migrant \u00a0communities involves \u00a0the \u00a0acquisition \u00a0of sociocultural competencies when encountering a new culture, particularly in terms of community \u00a0involvement, \u00a0interpersonal \u00a0and \u00a0intercultural communication, \u00a0and \u00a0public dealings. This process implies a psychological adjustment that influences individuals' well-being. \u00a0This \u00a0study \u00a0aime \u00a0to \u00a0analyze \u00a0how sociocultural \u00a0adaptation \u00a0influences \u00a0the emotional regulation \u00a0of \u00a0Portuguese \u00a0emigrants \u00a0in \u00a0Mexico. The research, \u00a0employing \u00a0a cross-sectional and descriptive approach, utilized a quantitative methodology with 79 convenience-selected \u00a0participants. \u00a0They \u00a0were \u00a0assessed using \u00a0the \u00a0Sociocultural Adaptation Scale (SCAS), the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21), and a questionnaire on sociodemographic and migratory situational variables.The main results indicate that increased age is significantly associated with lower levels of sociocultural competencies. Additionally, women and individuals with prior intercultural experience demonstrated higher community involvement.
