The female of the new species differs from other described species in lacking eyes, produced into pair of anterolateral flaps, the brood pouch completely covered by oostegites, while the male lacks pigmentation. <jats:italic>Parioninella astridae<\/jats:italic> Nierstrasz &amp; Brender \u00e0 Brandis, 1930 is recorded from Mindoro, Philippines, in <jats:italic>Pachycheles sculptus<\/jats:italic> (H. Milne Edwards, 1837).
