{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,3,6]],"date-time":"2025-03-06T22:42:41Z","timestamp":1741300961378,"version":"3.38.0"},"reference-count":0,"publisher":"Walter de Gruyter GmbH","issue":"1","content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Nematol"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2003]]},"abstract":"<jats:sec>\n\t\t\t\t\t<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title>\n\t\t\t\t\t<jats:p>The two species of potato cyst nematodes (PCN) have different spectra of\n\t\t\t\t\t\tvirulence towards host resistance genes and a proper identification is\n\t\t\t\t\t\timportant in the control of these nematodes by means of resistant potato\n\t\t\t\t\t\tcultivars. Genetic variability of 32 populations of Globodera rostochiensis\n\t\t\t\t\t\tand three of G. pallida from different regions of Portugal were analysed and\n\t\t\t\t\t\tcompared using random amplified polymorphic DNA and sixteen primers. In\n\t\t\t\t\t\taddition, a population of G. pallida (Luffness) from Scotland, UK, was\n\t\t\t\t\t\tincluded for comparison. The patterns obtained were evaluated using the Nei\n\t\t\t\t\t\tcoefficient and the UPGMA cluster method. The resulting clusters were\n\t\t\t\t\t\texpressed as dendrograms in the Phylogeny Inference Package (PHYLIP)\n\t\t\t\t\t\tprogram. Separation of the two species of PCN was achieved with an average\n\t\t\t\t\t\tsimilarity of 43%. Two populations of G. rostochiensis (PT1 and PT82) appear\n\t\t\t\t\t\tto be distinct from the main group of this species. One population of\n\t\t\t\t\t\tG.pallida (PT104) was distinct from the others of this species and the\n\t\t\t\t\t\tLuffness population was linked most closely with PT5701.
