Morphobiometric identification showed the\n\t\t\t\t\t\tpresence of trichodorid species previously reported from Portugal, except\n\t\t\t\t\t\tfor Paratrichodorus porosus, which is reported for the first time in\n\t\t\t\t\t\tContinental Europe. Small subunit ribosomal DNA (SSU rDNA) sequences of ten\n\t\t\t\t\t\tdifferent species occurring in Portugal were obtained and a phylogenetic\n\t\t\t\t\t\tanalysis based on their alignment was performed to infer relationships among\n\t\t\t\t\t\tthe different Portuguese trichodorid species and three non-indigenous\n\t\t\t\t\t\tpopulations (Nanidorus minor, P. allius and P. teres). The resulting\n\t\t\t\t\t\tphylogenetic tree is in agreement with the currently accepted classification\n\t\t\t\t\t\tfor Trichodoridae, except for Nanidorus, which clusters together with\n\t\t\t\t\t\tTrichodorus species, while the genera Paratrichodorus and Trichodorus appear\n\t\t\t\t\t\tas two distinct groups. A better understanding of the generic groupings in\n\t\t\t\t\t\tthe family Trichodoridae was found.
