{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,3,7]],"date-time":"2025-03-07T01:18:56Z","timestamp":1741310336077,"version":"3.38.0"},"reference-count":0,"publisher":"Walter de Gruyter GmbH","issue":"2","content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Dipl."],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2024,9,20]]},"abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract<\/jats:title>\n<jats:p>Few treaties before the Peace of Westphalia are likely to have affected popular culture as much as the so-called Treaty of Windsor, celebrated in 1386\u201387 between the rulers of England and Portugal, which has commonly been hailed as the oldest diplomatic alliance in place worldwide. A lesser-known fact is that the Treaty of Windsor was the last of four treaties signed in a relatively short span of 33 years, beginning in 1353. This essay examines each of those compositions\u2019 context, making, content, and constitutional significance once they came into being.
