Vapor heat pump cycle de sign is long and tedious. It is very necessary to obtain the cycle performance, including com pressor work, heat added, turbine work, cooling load, and coefficient of performance, quickly and accurately. This paper describes the use of an intelligent computer-aided software in simula tion, design and possible refinements of vapor heat pumps. Historical evolution and several differently arranged Rankine heat pump cycles are demonstrated. Objectives for improvements, constraints, and, consequently, design, which cannot be easily accomplished using conven tional methods, are emphasized. Using the soft ware increases engineers' interest and design ability in the vapor heat pump cycle.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1177\/003754970007400103","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2008,3,29]],"date-time":"2008-03-29T13:23:43Z","timestamp":1206797023000},"page":"18-27","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Intelligent Computer-Aided Simulation, Design and Improvement of Heat Pumps"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"74","author":[{"given":"Chih","family":"Wu","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanical Engineering U.
