By dividing the transmission line into a series of \u03c0 -section segments, a set of state equations is written in vector-matrix form. Each section segment consists of a series resistance and inductance with a shunt conductance and capacitance placed at the terminal ends of the segment. The state variables are chosen as the inductor currents and the capacitor voltages. The trapezoidal method of numerical integra tion is used to convert the state equations to a set of linear difference equations. Finally, LU factorization is used to update the difference equations.
