This paper pre sents the results of a survey on users' re quirements of discrete-event simulation software. The survey involved members of the Simulation Study Group of the Operational Research Society of Great Britain. Findings of the survey indicate which types of simula tion software are primarily being used, the most common application areas of simulation, and users' opinions about software and pos sible ways of improving simulation software.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1177\/003754979907300605","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2008,3,29]],"date-time":"2008-03-29T13:23:43Z","timestamp":1206797023000},"page":"362-370","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":19,"title":["Discrete-Event Simulation Software: What the Users Want"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"73","author":[{"given":"Vlatka","family":"Hlupic","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Brunel University Department of Information Systems and Computing Uxbridge, Middlesex, UB8 3PH United Kingdom"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[1999,12,1]]},"reference":[{"issue":"3","key":"atypb1","first-page":"205","volume":"1","author":"Hlupic, V.","year":"1993","journal-title":"Journal of Computing and Information Technology"},{"key":"atypb2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1177\/003754977001400505"},{"key":"atypb3","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1177\/003754977101700208"},{"key":"atypb4","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1287\/inte.13.5.47"},{"key":"atypb5","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1287\/inte.19.5.71"},{"key":"atypb6","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1057\/ori.1990.12"},{"key":"atypb7","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1177\/003754979406300402"},{"key":"atypb8","volume-title":"Simulation Modelling and Business Process Re-engineering : Bridging the Gap.\" European Simulation Multi-conference, ESM'98","author":"Hlupic, V.","year":"1998"}],"container-title":["SIMULATION"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1177\/003754979907300605","content-type":"application\/pdf","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"text-mining"},{"URL":"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/pdf\/10.1177\/003754979907300605","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2026,5,1]],"date-time":"2026-05-01T11:13:18Z","timestamp":1777633998000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/10.1177\/003754979907300605"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[1999,12]]},"references-count":8,"journal-issue":{"issue":"6","published-print":{"date-parts":[[1999,12]]}},"alternative-id":["10.1177\/003754979907300605"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1177\/003754979907300605","relation":{},"ISSN":["0037-5497","1741-3133"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0037-5497","type":"print"},{"value":"1741-3133","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[1999,12]]}}}
