Findings show that children's news exposure is significantly related to their emotional responses. Active mediation successfully reduces the relations between news exposure and fear, worry, and anger but only among the younger children in the sample. Restrictive mediation has no or even an opposite effect. However, findings also suggest that the effectiveness of the mediation may depend on the child's level of news exposure. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1177\/0093650206298070","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2007,4,5]],"date-time":"2007-04-05T16:08:00Z","timestamp":1175789280000},"page":"212-230","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":66,"title":["Parental Mediation of Children's Emotional Responses to a Violent News Event"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"34","author":[{"given":"Moniek","family":"Buijzen","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands"}]},{"given":"Juliette H.","family":"Walma van der Molen","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands"}]},{"given":"Patricia","family":"Sondij","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2007,4,1]]},"reference":[{"key":"atypb1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1177\/019251389010002006"},{"key":"atypb2","volume-title":"Multiple regression: Testing and interpreting interactions","author":"Aiken, L.S.","year":"1991"},{"key":"atypb3","unstructured":"Austin, E.W.\n\t\t\t\t (2001).
