The research was performed qualitatively and the data method of the foundation. Data were collected through documentary methods and interviews with a statistical sample of 13 professors of information science and the snowball sampling method. Interview data were analysed in three steps of open, axial and selective coding. Validity assessment was determined by the responsive method and reliability of two coding tests. After analysing the findings, 35 main codes of subcategories and concepts were discovered. The main categories were divided into eight categories: control and supervision, providing advanced services, accessibility, intelligence, maintaining security, new thinking and development, information literacy and method of use and satisfaction, and based on this, a paradigmatic and theoretical model was presented. In the theoretical model of the main phenomenon, the strategic indicators are the use of IoT in libraries, and the classes and the main phenomenon are related to the main class of application strategies. Strategic indicators of IoT application are leading in the growth and development of libraries. These indicators are important in the IoT use in libraries and their development. The eight categories identified in the conceptual model were considered significant by the interviewees. Thus, the indicators discovered are effective and necessary in the success of libraries that use the IoT. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1177\/01655515221123984","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2022,9,10]],"date-time":"2022-09-10T07:12:27Z","timestamp":1662793947000},"page":"1499-1510","update-policy":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1177\/sage-journals-update-policy","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":5,"title":["Discovering the fundamental strategic indicators of the use of Internet of Things in libraries: A grounded theory study"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"50","author":[{"given":"Ghasem Ali","family":"Ehsanian","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Information Knowledge and Science, Payame Noor University, Iran; Department of Information Knowledge and Science, Babol Branch, Islamic Azad University, Babol, Iran"}]},{"ORCID":"https:\/\/orcid.org\/0000-0002-1203-9303","authenticated-orcid":false,"given":"Safiyeh","family":"Tahmasebi Limooni","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Information Knowledge and Science, Babol Branch, Islamic Azad University, Babol, Iran"}]},{"given":"Mitra","family":"Ghiasi","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Information Knowledge and Science, Babol Branch, Islamic Azad University, Babol, Iran"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2022,9,10]]},"reference":[{"key":"bibr1-01655515221123984","volume":"203","author":"Campos EM","year":"2021","journal-title":"Comp Netw"},{"key":"bibr2-01655515221123984","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/j.comnet.2010.05.010"},{"key":"bibr3-01655515221123984","first-page":"89","volume":"6","author":"Asnafi AR","year":"2019","journal-title":"Knowl Retriev Seman Syst"},{"key":"bibr4-01655515221123984","first-page":"1","volume":"2022","author":"Zhang W","year":"2022","journal-title":"Wirel Commun Mob Comput"},{"key":"bibr5-01655515221123984","first-page":"107903","volume":"164","author":"Wang J","year":"2022","journal-title":"CAIE"},{"key":"bibr6-01655515221123984","first-page":"1","volume-title":"The first international conference on Internet of Things and current trends in libraries (ITCTL)","author":"Pandya CK"},{"key":"bibr7-01655515221123984","first-page":"97","volume":"7","author":"Kumar PRV","year":"2018","journal-title":"Int J Multidicip Educ Res"},{"key":"bibr8-01655515221123984","first-page":"1","volume":"5","author":"Nag A","year":"2016","journal-title":"Int J Inf Technol"},{"key":"bibr9-01655515221123984","first-page":"125","volume":"3","author":"Vandana C","year":"2017","journal-title":"TJRDO-J Comp Sci Eng"},{"key":"bibr10-01655515221123984","first-page":"29","volume":"4","author":"Kaladhar A","year":"2018","journal-title":"JoALS"},{"key":"bibr11-01655515221123984","first-page":"36","volume":"46","author":"Benisha M","year":"2019","journal-title":"HES, CASS"},{"key":"bibr12-01655515221123984","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.22091\/stim.2021.6545.1519."},{"key":"bibr13-01655515221123984","first-page":"00974","volume":"203","author":"M\u00e1rmol Campos E","year":"2021","journal-title":"Comp Netw"},{"key":"bibr14-01655515221123984","first-page":"68","volume-title":"2021 2nd international conference on smart electronics and communication (ICOSEC)","author":"Achary R."},{"key":"bibr15-01655515221123984","first-page":"587","volume":"37","author":"Soleimanzade N","year":"2021","journal-title":"Iran J Inf Process Manage"},{"key":"bibr16-01655515221123984","unstructured":"Alagumalai E, Natarajan R.
