Workstation mod eling and relevant kinematic relationships are discussed. A method of interference calculation is developed which allows rapid calculation of interference between convex polyhedra using a steepest descent graph search. If desired, exact sepa rating distances and directions can be found. A simple mod ule for automatic selection of welding parameters is de scribed. Interference-free trajectories that do not violate kinematics constraints are found by searching among possi ble inverse kinematic solutions for the desired welding torch trajectory. The above methods have been combined and implemented using interactive graphics in a prototype soft ware package called A UTO WELD.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1177\/027836498900800302","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2007,3,4]],"date-time":"2007-03-04T20:24:06Z","timestamp":1173039846000},"page":"31-43","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":13,"title":["Simulated Off-Line Programming of Welding Robots"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"8","author":[{"given":"R.O.","family":"Buchal","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanical Engineering University of Western Ontario London, Ontario, Canada N6A 5B9"}]},{"given":"D.B.","family":"Cherchas","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanical Engineering University of British Columbia Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada V6T 1W5"}]},{"given":"F.","family":"Sassani","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanical Engineering University of British Columbia Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada V6T 1W5"}]},{"given":"J.P.","family":"Duncan","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanical Engineering University of British Columbia Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada V6T 1W5"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[1989,6,1]]},"reference":[{"key":"atypb1","volume-title":"Determination of robot trajectories satisfying joint limit and interference constraints using an optimization method.
