Concurrent engineering methods known to date for the development of new products are tested within the framework of human and organizational capacities. The methodologies of 3-T looping and three-level team structure were especially tested. It was established that a two-level organization is more suitable for small companies. Due to requirements for product complexity, it was found that n-T looping methodology should be implemented. In the case of complex products (the methodology was tested on a mini-loader), it turns out that n is in the range of 7 to 9 members. Such a large team is still manageable and acts in an integrative manner to achieve the goal, product development. In the matrix analysis of activities, the use of a supplemented methodology was justified and proven for each phase of product development.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1177\/1063293x0100900302","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2008,5,15]],"date-time":"2008-05-15T23:25:02Z","timestamp":1210893902000},"page":"191-210","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":17,"title":["Development of New Products in Small Companies"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"9","author":[{"given":"Joze","family":"Duhovnik","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,\rAskerceva 6, SI-1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia, -lj.si"}]},{"given":"Marko","family":"Starbek","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,\rAskerceva 6, SI-1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia"}]},{"given":"S.N.","family":"Dwivedi","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Endowed Chair Professor in Manufacturing, Department\rof Mechanical Engineering, University of Louisiana, Lafayette, LA 70504"}]},{"given":"Biren","family":"Prasad","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Spec2Market Solutions, e-Manufacturing Product Business\rUnit, P.O.
