The signal-to-noise ratio of an operating window is the addition of the signal-to-noise ratios at the lower and upper thresholds of the window. Linear transformation on the lower threshold and reciprocal transformation on the upper threshold tend to render different weights at these thresholds, which results in an imbalanced optimization of a nondynamic operating window. In this article, a new signal-to-noise ratio for an operating window based on the unified methodology is proposed to reduce or eliminate this bias. Advantages of this methodology are discussed and an example is used to demonstrate the proposed methodology and compare with an existing methodology.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1177\/1063293x09343334","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2009,8,17]],"date-time":"2009-08-17T20:31:52Z","timestamp":1250541112000},"page":"173-181","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":1,"title":["Signal-to-Noise Ratio for Operating Window Using Unified Methodology"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"17","author":[{"given":"Naresh K.","family":"Sharma","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Engineering Center, Engineering Management & Systems Engineering Missouri University of Science & Technology, Rolla MO 65409, USA"}]},{"given":"Elizabeth A.","family":"Cudney","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Design Engineering Center, Engineering Management & Systems Engineering Missouri University of Science & Technology, Rolla MO 65409, USA,"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2009,8,17]]},"reference":[{"key":"atypb1","volume-title":"Engineering Methods for Robust Product Design","author":"Fowlkes, W.Y.","year":"1995"},{"key":"atypb2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1198\/004017004000000077"},{"key":"atypb3","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1080\/00224065.2002.11980168"},{"key":"atypb4","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1002\/rem.20012"},{"key":"atypb5","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/S0924-0136(01)00754-3"},{"key":"atypb6","unstructured":"Bechet, G., Divoux, F., Edelbruck, P. and Alcocer, R.
