The analysis examined 227 articles published in five different information sources in a 2 month period. The analysis looked at 94 content-based variables and the key attributes of these articles including word count and date of publication. Descriptive and analytical statistics relating to both article content and format were produced. The analysis showed that the content and format of articles between different information sources varied widely. These differences can be attributed to the information source in which they are published, but the variability in the content of these information sources provides a challenge to parents who were shown to be using the mass media as an information source.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1177\/1460458208096654","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2008,11,13]],"date-time":"2008-11-13T07:57:49Z","timestamp":1226563069000},"page":"323-334","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":39,"title":["A content analysis of mass media sources in relation to the MMR vaccine scare"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"14","author":[{"given":"Louise","family":"Guillaume","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Information Resources School of Health and Related Research\r(ScHARR) University of Sheffield Sheffield, UK,"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Peter A.","family":"Bath","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Centre for Health Information Management Research (CHIMR)\rand Health Informatics Research Group Department of Information Studies University\rof Sheffield Sheffield, UK,"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2008,12,1]]},"reference":[{"key":"atypb1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1016\/S0140-6736(97)11096-0"},{"key":"atypb2","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1177\/1460458204040664"},{"key":"atypb3","volume-title":"The measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine scare: the information needs and information sources of parents.
