It is argued that web pages represent the presence of individuals and institutions representing what they have to say. Consequently, we would argue that a robust construct such as voice might offer an unique theoretical lens through which to examine the internet and cyberspace phenomenon. This article argues that cyberspace can be conceptualized as a discursive space, and calls for a textual\/discursive\/rhetorical analysis focusing on the eloquence of representation as a principal means by which people and institutions voice themselves in this space.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1177\/146144402321466778","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2003,7,19]],"date-time":"2003-07-19T01:53:44Z","timestamp":1058579624000},"page":"479-498","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":84,"title":["Theorizing Cyberspace: the Idea of Voice Applied to the Internet Discourse"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"4","author":[{"given":"ANANDA","family":"MITRA","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Wake Forest University, USA"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"ERIC","family":"WATTS","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Wake Forest University, USA"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2002,12,1]]},"reference":[{"key":"atypb1","volume-title":"Voice","author":"Appelbaum, D.","year":"1990"},{"key":"atypb2","volume-title":"The Dialogic Imagination","author":"Bakhtin, M.M.","year":"1981"},{"key":"atypb3","volume-title":"Speech Genres and Other Late Essays","author":"Bakhtin, M.
