This article argues that foreign policy is constrained by public opinion, which is in turn affected by media portrayals of other nations. Moreover, the impact of a particular media form is mediated by the `logics' of the format. The article proposes a conceptual scheme and criterion for determining the impact of media format in presenting international issues; it also proposes that the logic of new media, in contrast to the logic of traditional media, brings greater information, but less knowledge and critical awareness of foreign affairs.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1177\/146144402321466787","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2003,7,19]],"date-time":"2003-07-19T01:53:44Z","timestamp":1058579624000},"page":"499-517","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":23,"title":["The Logic of New Media in International Affairs"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"4","author":[{"given":"ALAN R.","family":"KLUVER","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Nanyang Technological University, Singapore"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2002,12,1]]},"reference":[{"key":"atypb1","first-page":"19","volume-title":"Democracy.com?
