By surveying readers of three different blogs (\n N<\/jats:underline>\n =1838), this study identified significant effects as a result of exposure to political statements on blogs. Indeed, there were differences in the levels of political cynicism depending on how political statements were communicated. Readers of non-political blogs were more confident in their level of political information and their ability to participate in politics. Finally, political uses\/approaches and avoidances were examined, as were differences based on gender and age.\n <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1177\/1461444807085322","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2008,2,13]],"date-time":"2008-02-13T10:54:22Z","timestamp":1202900062000},"page":"67-91","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":38,"title":["Stealth soapboxes: political information efficacy, cynicism and uses of celebrity weblogs among readers"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"10","author":[{"given":"Kaye D.","family":"Sweetser","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Georgia, USA,"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]},{"given":"Lynda","family":"Lee Kaid","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Florida, USA,"}],"role":[{"role":"author","vocabulary":"crossref"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[2008,2]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_2_1_1","doi-asserted-by":"publisher","DOI":"10.1080\/105846000198495"},{"key":"e_1_2_2_2_1","volume-title":"Going Negative: How Political Ads Shrink and Polarize the Electorate","author":"Ansolabehers, S.","year":"1995","unstructured":"Ansolabehers, S. and S.
