{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2026,5,4]],"date-time":"2026-05-04T06:58:54Z","timestamp":1777877934816,"version":"3.51.4"},"reference-count":32,"publisher":"SAGE Publications","issue":"4","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2010,4,1]],"date-time":"2010-04-01T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1270080000000},"content-version":"tdm","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/page\/policies\/text-and-data-mining-license"}],"content-domain":{"domain":[],"crossmark-restriction":false},"short-container-title":["Natural Product Communications"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2010,4]]},"abstract":"<jats:p>The essential oils from the flower, leaf, stem and root of Nepeta persica Boiss., analyzed by GC and GC\/MS, were shown to contain 4a\u03b2,7\u03b1,7a\u03b2-nepetalactone (58.5%, 62.3%, 66.2% and 27.1%, respectively), and 4a\u03b1,7\u03b1,7a\u03b2-nepetalactone (33.0%, 28.3%, 24.9% and 7.6%, respectively). The other main component of the flower and stem oils was \u03b1-pinene (3.6% and 4.4%) and of the leaf oil \u03b2-ocimene (3.6%). In the root oil, other main constituents were \u03b1-pinene (40.4%), \u03b1-amorphene (5.3%), \u03b3-cadinene (2.9%), and cis-calamenene (2.5%). Nepetalactone was the major component of the flower, leaf and stem oils, which are thus important sources of nepetalactone. Antibacterial activities of the flower, leaf, stem and root oils were evaluated using the microdilution broth method. Inhibitory effects on Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi and Enterococcus faecalis were recorded. The flower, leaf, stem, and root oils had difference activities against the test microorganisms.
