Along with social isolation, the transition to distance education affected the well-being of students in several countries, particularly Portugal and Spain. <\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Objectives<\/jats:title><jats:p> To identify which variables are predictors of psychological well-being for Portuguese and Spanish nursing students during mandatory lockdowns. <\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Methods<\/jats:title><jats:p> A multicenter, cross-sectional, descriptive, correlational study involving a sample of 1075 students (944 women, mean age 22.46\u2009+\u2009\/\u22124.95 years). Data were collected from an online questionnaire which applied the following scales: Perceived Stress Scale (\u03b1\u2009=\u2009.820); Brief COPE-14 Subscales (\u03b1\u2009=\u2009.430\u2009&lt;\u20090.930); Well-being Manifestations Measure Scale (\u03b1\u2009=\u2009.940); Herth Hope Index (\u03b1\u2009=\u2009.850). A multiple regression model was created to predict the psychological well-being of nursing students. <\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Results<\/jats:title><jats:p> The following predictor variables were identified in the model of the psychological well-being of students during the COVID-19 pandemic: perceived stress ( \u03b2\u2009=\u2009.405; p\u2009\u2264\u2009.001); hope ( \u03b2\u2009=\u2009.404; p\u2009\u2264\u2009.001); and the mechanisms of active coping ( \u03b2\u2009=\u2009.405; p\u2009\u2264\u2009.001), planning ( \u03b2\u2009=\u2009.097; p\u2009\u2264\u2009.001), and positive reinterpretation ( \u03b2\u2009=\u2009.053; p\u2009\u2009=\u2009\u2009.12). These five variables predicted 62.0% of the nursing students\u2019 psychological well-being ( R<jats:sup>2<\/jats:sup>\u2009=\u2009.620; F\u2009\u2009=\u2009\u2009350.82; p\u2009\u2264\u2009.001). <\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Conclusion<\/jats:title><jats:p> Promoting students\u2019 mental health is essential, especially in periods of great adversity, such as a pandemic.
