{"status":"ok","message-type":"work","message-version":"1.0.0","message":{"indexed":{"date-parts":[[2025,7,30]],"date-time":"2025-07-30T13:50:22Z","timestamp":1753883422671,"version":"3.41.2"},"reference-count":26,"publisher":"SAGE Publications","license":[{"start":{"date-parts":[[2020,1,1]],"date-time":"2020-01-01T00:00:00Z","timestamp":1577836800000},"content-version":"unspecified","delay-in-days":0,"URL":"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-nc\/4.0\/"}],"content-domain":{"domain":["journals.sagepub.com"],"crossmark-restriction":true},"short-container-title":["Ophthalmol Eye Dis"],"published-print":{"date-parts":[[2020,1]]},"abstract":"<jats:sec><jats:title>Introduction:<\/jats:title><jats:p> The ILUVIEN<jats:sup>\u00ae<\/jats:sup> (fluocinolone acetonide) Clinical Evidence in Portugal (ICE-PT) study is a retrospective, multicenter, observational study evaluating the effectiveness and safety of the FAc implant in patients with diabetic macular edema. <\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Methods:<\/jats:title><jats:p> Patients included in this study had received the 0.2\u2009\u00b5g\/day fluocinolone acetonide implant for the treatment of diabetic macular edema and had measurements of visual acuity and retinal thickness assessed by optical coherence tomography for at least 12\u2009months pre- and post-fluocinolone acetonide implant administration, with \u2a7e2 follow-up visits. Outcomes measured included visual acuity, central foveal thickness, and intraocular pressure. <\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Results:<\/jats:title><jats:p> There was a significant increase in mean visual acuity compared with baseline at 3, 6, 9, and 12\u2009months post-fluocinolone acetonide in both the overall study population and the pseudophakic subgroup ( p\u2009&lt;\u20090.05 at all time points in both groups). A significant reduction in mean central foveal thickness compared with baseline was seen in the overall study population at 3, 6, 9, and 12\u2009months post-fluocinolone acetonide ( p\u2009&lt;\u20090.05 at all time points).
