Within the investigated<jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>range, no phase transition was observed. The axial and volume thermal expansion coefficient (\u03b1<jats:sub>j<\/jats:sub>= l<jats:sub>j<\/jats:sub><jats:sup>-1<\/jats:sup>(\ud835\udf151<jats:sub>j<\/jats:sub>\/\ud835\udf15T), \u03b1<jats:sub>v<\/jats:sub>= V<jats:sup>-1<\/jats:sup>(\ud835\udf15V\/\ud835\udf15T)), calculated by weighted linear regression through the data points, are: \u03b1<jats:sub>a<\/jats:sub>= 5.5(2) x 10<jats:sup>-5<\/jats:sup>, \u03b1<jats:sub>b<\/jats:sub>= 5.9(2) x 10<jats:sup>-5<\/jats:sup>, \u03b1<jats:sub>c<\/jats:sub>= 5.18(8) xl0<jats:sup>-5<\/jats:sup>, \u03b1<jats:sub>v<\/jats:sub>= 7.4(1) x 10<jats:sup>-3<\/jats:sup>\u201cC<jats:sup>-1<\/jats:sup>, with \u03b1<jats:sub>a<\/jats:sub>:\u03b1<jats:sub>b<\/jats:sub>:\u03b1<jats:sub>c<\/jats:sub>= 1.06:1.14:1. All three angles of the kyanite lattice show a slight decrease with<jats:italic>T,<\/jats:italic>with<jats:italic>\ud835\udf15\u03b1\/\ud835\udf15T =<\/jats:italic>-2(2) x 10<jats:sup>-5<\/jats:sup>, \ud835\udf15\u03b2\/\ud835\udf15T = -4(1) x 10<jats:sup>-5<\/jats:sup>, \ud835\udf15\u03b3\/\ud835\udf15T = \u201310(2) x 10<jats:sup>-5<\/jats:sup>%C. The magnitudes of the principal Lagrangian unit-strain coefficients (\u03b5<jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub>,\u03b5<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>, \u03b5<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>) and the orientations of the thermal strain-ellipsoids, between the ambient temperature and each measured<jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>, were calculated. The magnitude and the orientation of all the three unit-strain coefficients are almost maintained constant with<jats:italic>T<\/jats:italic>. At<jats:italic>T-T<jats:sub>o<\/jats:sub>=<\/jats:italic>1177\u00b0C , \u03b5^<jats:italic>a<\/jats:italic>= 76(2)\u00b0,<jats:italic>\u03b5^b =<\/jats:italic>70(2)\u00b0, \u03b5^c = 38(3)\u00b0, \u03b5<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>^a = 49(3)\u00b0, \u03b5<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>^<jats:italic>b<\/jats:italic>= 66(3)\u00b0, \u03b5<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>^<jats:italic>c<\/jats:italic>= 127(4)\u00b0, \u03b5<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>^<jats:italic>a<\/jats:italic>= 135(3)\u00b0, \u03b5<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>^<jats:italic>b<\/jats:italic>= 31(3)\u00b0, \u03b5<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>^c = 91(2)\u00b0 with \u03b5<jats:sub>1<\/jats:sub>:\u03b5<jats:sub>2<\/jats:sub>:\u03b5<jats:sub>3<\/jats:sub>= 1.57:1.29:1. The structural refinements, performed at 23, 600, 650, 700, 750, 800, 900, 950, 1050 and 1200\u00b0C allowed the description of the structural evolution and the main T-induced deformation mechanisms, which are mainly represented by the polyhedral distortions of the
