They underwent surgery within 1\u00a0month. We compared the sensitivity of the different imaging methods based on the lesions according to the pathological results. The parathyroid lesions on<jats:sup>99m<\/jats:sup>Tc-MIBI SPECT\/CT images were divided into missed diagnosis group (MDG) and non-missed diagnosis group (NMDG). We compared the lesion to background ratio (LBR), maximum diameter, volume, the mean\u00a0CT Hounsfield\u00a0unit values\u00a0(CT<jats:sub>mean<\/jats:sub>) and location of lesions between MDG and NMDG.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Results<\/jats:title><jats:p>The sensitivity of<jats:sup>99m<\/jats:sup>Tc-MIBI SPECT\/CT,<jats:sup>99m<\/jats:sup>Tc-MIBI planar scintigraphy and US were 70.30% versus 48.48% versus 61.82%, respectively. The sensitivity of<jats:sup>99m<\/jats:sup>Tc-MIBI SPECT\/CT combined US was 79.39%, which was higher than<jats:sup>99m<\/jats:sup>Tc-MIBI SPECT\/CT with significant difference (<jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20090.000). On<jats:sup>99m<\/jats:sup>Tc-MIBI SPECT\/CT images, the LBR, maximum diameter and volume of lesions in MDG was smaller than those in NMDG with significant difference (<jats:italic>P<\/jats:italic>\u2009&lt;\u20090.001). The average LBR, maximum diameter and volume of lesions in MDG and NMDG were 3.42\u2009\u00b1\u20091.28, 9.32\u2009\u00b1\u20092.69\u00a0mm, 208.51\u2009\u00b1\u2009163.22 mm<jats:sup>3<\/jats:sup>versus 6.75\u2009\u00b1\u20095.08, 15.03\u2009\u00b1\u20094.94\u00a0mm and 863.85\u2009\u00b1\u20091216.0 mm<jats:sup>3<\/jats:sup>, respectively.<\/jats:p><\/jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Conclusions<\/jats:title><jats:p><jats:sup>99m<\/jats:sup>Tc-MIBI SPECT\/CT exhibited the highest sensitivity among the three methods. When<jats:sup>99m<\/jats:sup>Tc-MIBI SPECT\/CT combined with US, the sensitivity can be further improved.
