Knowledge of stroke risk factors and HRQOL were assessed using the stroke-knowledge questionnaire and European Quality of Life\u2013Five Dimensions (EQ-5D) questionnaire, respectively.<\/jats:p>\n<\/jats:sec><jats:sec>\n<jats:title>Results<\/jats:title>\n<jats:p>Sixty-three patients completed a post-test survey (the SHEMA intervention, <jats:italic>n<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u200930; traditional stroke health-education, <jats:italic>n<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u200933). Our trial found that patients\u2019 mean knowledge score of stroke risk factors was improved after the SHEMA intervention (<jats:italic>Mean difference<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20092.83; <jats:italic>t<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20093.44; <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u2009.002), and patients\u2019 knowledge was also improved in the after traditional stroke health-education (<jats:italic>Mean difference<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20092.79; <jats:italic>t<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u20093.68; <jats:italic>p<\/jats:italic>\u2009=\u2009.001).
