Comparisons between measured and model\u2010based values were performed. The measured data included 503\n                    <jats:italic>V<\/jats:italic>\n                    <jats:sub>\n                      <jats:italic>S<\/jats:italic>\n                      30\n                    <\/jats:sub>\n                    values collected from various projects for 482 seismographic station sites in California. Six proxy\u2010based models\u2014employing geologic mapping, topographic slope, and terrain classification\u2014were also considered. Included was a new terrain class model based on the Yong et al.\u00a0(2012) approach but recalibrated with updated measured\n                    <jats:italic>V<\/jats:italic>\n                    <jats:sub>\n                      <jats:italic>S<\/jats:italic>\n                      30\n                    <\/jats:sub>\n                    values. Using the measured\n                    <jats:italic>V<\/jats:italic>\n                    <jats:sub>\n                      <jats:italic>S<\/jats:italic>\n                      30\n                    <\/jats:sub>\n                    data as the metric for performance, the predictive capabilities of the six models were determined to be statistically indistinguishable.
