Metaphors and narratives shape scientific, legal, and literary constructions of life, reinforcing proprietary and exclusionary logics. Matterphorics offers a way to challenge these divisions, fostering a postanthropocentric ethics of thought. Engaging with Deleuze, Barad, Whitehead, and Povinelli, this chapter examines how life is defined, owned, and legitimized across disciplines. From genomic patents to legal personhood, it exposes the mechanisms that govern what counts as life. By unsettling the binary life story, it opens possibilities for relational, contingent, and more inclusive conceptualizations of existence and
