Online cultures are often positioned by scholars and students as more accessible, less hierarchical, and more \u201cpractical\u201d than the knowledges of academia. And yet these knowledge cultures often did not perform what they purported to do in young feminists\u2019 everyday worlds. They were implicated in the production of new, universalizing benchmarks of knowledge that set feminists up to fail. They raised the standards of what young feminists needed to know to seem \u201ceducated,\u201d producing competition and comparison that reinforced classed and racialized inequalities.
