Mudde\u2019s concept of craft knowing through the concrete work of knitting, which involves moments of unmaking and undoing (e.g., tinking, or knitting backward, and frogging, unknitting or ripping stitches) as well as making, and in which human vulnerability, fallibility, commitment, and constraint all show up as features of deep relational and material engagement. Through knitting and other forms of craft knowing, Mudde explores how we can practice a critical self-attendance in and through making and unmaking, a kind of self-attendance that is never separated from its companions. Rather, the product of our crafting reveals our capacities, skills, attentiveness, pain or ease, in companionship and kinship with limitation and constraint.
