Apart from neglecting axial flow, no assumptions are made with respect to the relative magnitudes of the terms in the flow equations. Experimental results were obtained using a test apparatus in which quasi-elliptical orbits were generated using spinning eccentric masses. The squeeze force data show reasonable agreement with numerical results obtained for five orbit cases.<\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1243\/pime_proc_1984_198_101_02","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2007,2,20]],"date-time":"2007-02-20T11:49:16Z","timestamp":1171972156000},"page":"137-143","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":2,"title":["Arbitrary Motions in Long Cylindrical Squeeze Films: Numerical Model and Experimental Validation"],"prefix":"10.1177","volume":"198","author":[{"given":"R J","family":"Rogers","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, Canada"}]},{"given":"A C M","family":"Sousa","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, Canada"}]},{"given":"T B","family":"Qureshi","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, Canada"}]}],"member":"179","published-online":{"date-parts":[[1984,7]]},"reference":[{"key":"e_1_2_1_2_2","unstructured":"Pettigrew M.
