The overall strategy is to follow the preschedule until a disruption occurs. After a disruption, part of the schedule is reconstructed to match up with the preschedule at some future time. Conditions are given for the optimality of this approach. A practical implementation is compared with the alternatives of preplanned static scheduling and myopic dynamic scheduling. A set of practical test problems demonstrates the advantages of the matchup approach. We also explore the solution of the matchup scheduling problem and show the advantages of an integer programming approach for allocating resources to jobs. <\/jats:p>","DOI":"10.1287\/opre.39.3.470","type":"journal-article","created":{"date-parts":[[2008,11,8]],"date-time":"2008-11-08T13:45:52Z","timestamp":1226151952000},"page":"470-483","source":"Crossref","is-referenced-by-count":156,"title":["Matchup Scheduling with Multiple Resources, Release Dates and Disruptions"],"prefix":"10.1287","volume":"39","author":[{"given":"James C.","family":"Bean","sequence":"first","affiliation":[{"name":"The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan"}]},{"given":"John R.","family":"Birge","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan"}]},{"given":"John","family":"Mittenthal","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York"}]},{"given":"Charles E.","family":"Noon","sequence":"additional","affiliation":[{"name":"University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tennessee"}]}],"member":"109","container-title":["Operations Research"],"original-title":[],"language":"en","link":[{"URL":"https:\/\/pubsonline.informs.org\/doi\/pdf\/10.1287\/opre.39.3.470","content-type":"unspecified","content-version":"vor","intended-application":"similarity-checking"}],"deposited":{"date-parts":[[2023,4,2]],"date-time":"2023-04-02T14:06:35Z","timestamp":1680444395000},"score":1,"resource":{"primary":{"URL":"https:\/\/pubsonline.informs.org\/doi\/10.1287\/opre.39.3.470"}},"subtitle":[],"short-title":[],"issued":{"date-parts":[[1991,6]]},"references-count":0,"journal-issue":{"issue":"3","published-print":{"date-parts":[[1991,6]]}},"alternative-id":["10.1287\/opre.39.3.470"],"URL":"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1287\/opre.39.3.470","relation":{},"ISSN":["0030-364X","1526-5463"],"issn-type":[{"value":"0030-364X","type":"print"},{"value":"1526-5463","type":"electronic"}],"subject":[],"published":{"date-parts":[[1991,6]]}}}
