This is evident in the organization of content by genre on streaming services and digital platforms. To enhance user engagement and accessibility, school libraries have started to adopt a similar approach, discontinuing the use of traditional systems such as Dewey Decimal Classification to arrange collections in a more dynamic way through genrefication. This paper presents a systematic literature review of academic and professional publications exploring genrefication in school libraries since 2000. The eighteen articles emerging are mostly in support of genrefication, citing its simplification and subsequent improvement of the browsing experience and access for students. Many of the articles are written from the authors' experiences in genrefying their own collection, including implementation processes, challenges, and outcomes. Findings also reveal evidence of the impact of genrefication on areas such as collection development and support for reading and the curriculum, along with enhanced accessibility of resources to students.
